On December 2, 2019, the island Municipality of Capul, Northern Samar was badly hit by Typhoon Tisoy.  More than 500 houses were totally damaged, an estimated 80% damage in agriculture was noted and there were no communication lines and electricity in the entire island. Immediately, cry for help were raised especially that the municipality, being an island, cannot easily be reached for relief operations.

As the Christmas season rolled in, each one of us in the PWJA Region 8 felt the breeze of love, kindness and generosity sweep through. We prepared an outreach program for those severely damaged by the typhoon by distributing hygiene kits composed of bath soaps, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, laundry soap, nail clipper, shaver, hand towel, comb and feminine pads. A total of 256 families received our gifts on December 15, 2019 particularly in Barangays San Luis, Aguin and Landusan. It was a joy to see their happy faces as they received our simple presents. It was a reminder of how Christmas is so much more than just giving gifts. Activities such as this are a great way to bring people together, to serve and share blessings, and to give hope. We know that in our way we are providing hope and new opportunities for our less fortunate brethren.
